WHAT TO EXPECT

Our First Aid at Work (FAW) course will consist of the following:

  • Two practical days instructor-led teaching and one eLearning module to be completed before your second practical day.

  • Day One practical will consist of the following topics:

    • Roles and Responsibilities of a First Aider

    • Relevant health and safety regulations

    • Assessing an emergency situation safely

    • Prioritise of care

    • Managing an unresponsive casualty (Breathing)

    • Managing an unresponsive casualty (Not Breathing)

    • Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation - CPR (Adults)

    • Automated External Defibrillator - AED

    • Managing an obstructed airway

    • Seizures

    • Severe bleeding and Hypovolemic Shock

    • Minor injuries

  • eLearning (6-hours of content) must be completed prior to the commencement of day two practical day or before the start of the course. Consisting of the following topics:

    • Sepsis

    • Drowning

    • Poisoning

    • Asthma

    • Diabetes

    • Abdominal and Chest Injuries

    • Head Injuries

    • Sprains and Strains

    • Bites and Stings

    • Electric Shock

    • Fainting and Panic Attacks

    • Extreme Temperatures

  • Day Two practical will consist of the following topics:

    • Day one recap and e-learning recap

    • Fractures and Dislocations

    • Spinal Injuries

    • Further Wounds and Bleeding

    • Strokes

    • Anaphylaxis

  • Instructor-led observation for all practical assessments

  • Closed book Assessment Exam

CERTIFICATION

On completion of the course learners will receive their Level 3 - First Aid at Work Certificate via email.

Your certificate will be valid for a period of 3-Years from the date of approval and will comply with HSE Regulations ‘Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981
