Course Overview

Our comprehensive Paediatric First Aid, Level 3 Awarded Qualification, course is meticulously designed not only to meet the stringent OFSTED Registration requirements but also to align fully with the Early Years Foundation Learning (EYFL) framework. This robust course is ideally tailored for professionals who find themselves working in various environments where they are responsible for the care and safety of infants, covering ages ranging from new-borns at 0 to 12 months, all the way up to children who are aged 1 to 18 years. By instilling essential knowledge and practical skills, this course effectively equips participants with the confidence needed to manage various first aid-related challenges they may encounter, ensuring that they are able to adhere to their workplace policies, safe practices, and established guidelines.

Furthermore, while those individuals who might not be required to be listed on the OFSTED Register, such as new parents, nannies, or even grandparents. Not mandated to complete this training; however, nevertheless strongly encouraged to enrol in our Paediatric First Aid course to significantly enhance their confidence and competence in caring for young children.

Our Paediatric First Aid (PFA) course will consist of the following infant and child focused topics:

Day 1 will consist of the following topic

Roles and Responsibilities of a First Aider
Relevant health and safety regulations
Assessing an emergency situation safely
Prioritise of care
Managing an unresponsive infant and child casualty (Breathing / Not Breathing)
Cardio Pulmonary Resuscitation - CPR (infant and child ONLY)
Automated External Defibrillator - AED (infant and child ONLY)
Managing an obstructed airway
Seizures
Bleeding and Shock
Head Injuries
Anaphylaxis

Day 2 topics include:
- Asthma
- Bites, Stings and Minor Injuries
- Suspected Fractures
- Neck, Back and Head Injuries
- Meningitis
- Diabetes
- Poisons
- Electric Shock
- Extreme Temperatures

Instructor-led observation for all practical assessments

CERTIFICATION

On completion of the course learners will receive their Level 3 - Paediatric First Aid Certificate via email.

Your certificate will be valid for a period of 3-Years from the date of approval and will comply with HSE Regulations ‘Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981
